Alex Small

Alex is a graduate of Tagwi Secondary School. He is a decathlon athlete who started his career as a self-taught discus thrower.  In grade 10 Alex qualified for OFSAA after finishing 1st at EOSSAA. In grade 11 he finished 1st at SD&G and eventually qualifying for OFSAA.  In grade 12 he finished 1st in SD&G and 6th at EOSSAA.  Alex has also been recognized with numerous awards including both Junior and Senior Track & Field MVP.

In 2017 Alex joined the Brockville Legion Track Club. After competing in various events he qualified for the National Youth Track and Field Championships in Brandon, Manitoba. Alex competed in the decathlon and finished first in two events. This year Alex is a member of the Ottawa Lions Track and Field Club. Recently he competed at the Athletics Ontario Outdoor Combined Events Championship in Montreal. Competitors were from Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick. Alex finished 2nd in decathlon and currently holds a national record for discuss throwing at the U-18 level in a decathlon.

Alex enjoys helping other students in track and field and received the Lieutenant Governor Award for Community Volunteer. He will be attending Ottawa University in 2018 and will be a member of their track and field team.
