Jason Woodside

Athlete - Fastball

Inducted - 2018

Jason is a baseball player at heart.  He grew up playing minor fastball in Newington and was part of many strong teams that were winning tournaments against the likes of Kingston, Ottawa, and Cornwall.  In 1989 he pitched for a Kemptville team that were finalists in the Ontario Playdowns, and Jason pitched a 1-hitter in that tournament against a strong team from Owen Sound.

Fast forward to 1993, and Jason is playing 3rd base for a Stittsville team that won the Ontario Midget Championship, moving on that year to win Silver at the Canadian National Championships in Victoria BC. The following year Jason helped lead that team (now Juniors) to a repeat championship performance, and represented Ontario at the Junior National Championship. Jason continues to dedicate himself to the sport, and in 2009 was part of a Cornwall 35 & over team that won silver at the World Masters Games in Sydney, Australia. In 2013 he was a member of an Ottawa 35 & over team which won Gold at the World Masters Games held in Torino, Italy.

To this day he continues to be involved in the sport as a player and coach for minor competitive teams.

Jason was not able to stay for the ceremony as he is coaching youth baseball at the provincial tournament starting Saturday morning.
